Njugilo (Rungwe) handover ceremony

The reception was just crazy!  Never experienced something like this.  But it is understandable: this was one of the worst situations we found in all the 135 villages, we are active in.  We helped them to complete a freshly started building with 3 classrooms and a headmaster office. The district helped them also with labor costs, and the villagers themselves sponsored the timber and roofsheets. 

It started right away with dancers and musicians.  After that came a funny guy reading a letter to us.  Everybody laughing! Then it was time for the speeches.  We announced that because we only used 55% of our budget for that building, there was enough money to start completing a second building with 3 classrooms and an office this year.  In 2018 and 2019 we will clean up the 2 other buildings.  Needles to say how much joy this brought.

Then it was time to cut the ribbon and lots of handshaking.  After that we enjoyed a simple meal, cooked by some women of the village. Then we had to move to Mbaka, our next stop for that day.
