Kapamysia handover ceremony

This morning, we were invited to the residence of Minister Mwakyemba, where yesterday the funeral of his late wife Lina took place.  We were meeting with Mrs. Ave Maria Semakafu, the highest official of the Ministry of Education.  On request of her boss, the Minister of Education, she stayed one day extra in Kyela in order to meet us and learn everything about our Cocoa for Schools project.

She was full of praise of our project and promised to look into the possibility to give us some financial support, especially to help the villages to pay for the labor. She told us she was reviewing the procedures for building schools as they found out that a lot of money was misused or just wasted.  She found the fact that we are building 3 times more efficient than the government quite interesting and will invite us on a later date to explain in detail how we do work.

She joined us for the handover ceremony of a 2-classroom building with a headmaster office in the village of Kapamysia.  She was impressed by the quality of our building.  Now the school has already 4 decent classrooms.

We told them we will start immediately overhauling the adjacent building, which looks more like a pig stable.  That would give us another 3 classrooms and a staf room. In 2018 and 2019, we will complete/renovate the other 2 buildings.
